I'm caving and editing my save so that I don't have to spend a bunch of time doing the same thing over and over again. I'm going to accomplish this just using Rare Candies. I have six, most of which were picked up by Gary, but I've decided to add enough to get the party I intend to use up to level 50.
| Slapkins | Lv. 47 -> 50 | + 3 |
| Annie | Lv. 47 -> 50 | + 3 |
| Finger | Lv. 40 -> 50 | +10 |
| Sredsa | Lv. 40 -> 50 | +10 |
| Billy | Lv. 36 -> 50 | +14 |
| Cass | Lv. 27 -> 50 | +23 |
Total Rare Candies needed: 63
Total to set to: 69 (+63)
If I had more time to throw at this, I probably would have done this legitimately despite the slog.
Much like when I was at this point in my SoulSilver run, I just want to get through this part and be done with it.
Dissimilarly, I have an event that I'm going to in a few days where it will be important for me to have a full team and probably to have finished the game.
More on that in a few days.
I also generated a present for myself for after I beat the Elite Four.
More on that after I beat the Elite Four.
I already backed up the last version of the save before I decided to modify it, so after making the changes, I just saved them over the main copy.
- Gary had picked up a Super Potion.
- Started applying Rare Candies to the party.
- Sredsa wanted to learn the move Baton Pass. That seemed like a very good idea.
However, I'm building Sredsa up not as a support Pokemon, which means that she should keep her attack moves.
It was a difficult choice, but I had her unlearn Slash in favor of Baton Pass.
- Finger made it to level 42 and evolved.
> FINGER: Lairon -> Aggron
- Passed on having Finger learn Metal Sound. I think Iron Defense works better for what I'm trying to accomplish.
- Replaced Billy's Astonish with Dragon Dance.
- Passed on having him learn Refresh, even though it would probably be better to have that instead of Sing.
- Put Sredsa in the box for now to get Cass leveled up. I'll have Gary in there once I actually make it to the lair of the Elite Four.
- Replaced Cass's Quick Attack with Double Team.
- Cass and Sredsa now both have Double Team and Swords Dance.
- Had Cass drop Razor Wind in favor of Slash.
- Another tough decision to be made. Future Sight seems like it could be a good move, but I like the idea of Cass having DT and SD. Given that I had Sredsa learn Baton Pass, I'm going to have Cass drop Double Team and learn Future Sight instead.
- Did not have her learn Perish Song.
- Finally made it through all the Rare Candies I intended to use.
- With Bunson back in my party, it's time to make my way through the cave.
- Found Psychic (TM29) while wandering the caves.
- What sick fuck decided to call this "Victory Road"? "Road", my ass!
- Found a trainer with a Mawile.
- Son of a bitch there's waterfalls in this cave that I need to navigate on.
- I can see the exit.
- Just as I was about to leave, Wally showed up! He decided to battle me, even though my team took a good battering from the trainers.
- This battle actually went pretty smoothly, but only because I got my team to a high enough level to get through this place.
- From battling with the trainers in the cave, Slapkins and Finger have both made it to level 51.
- Leaving the cave takes me to a nice path with flowers that goes into the Pokemon League building.
- Healed up, then bought a shitload of Hyper Potions and Full Restores. I would have bought some Revives, but Gary already picked up a lot of them. This is why Gary is the best.
- Gary picked up a Full Heal.
It went poorly. I needed to buy more items and not get immediately fucked on the second leader. Also, the third one is Ice. I didn't actually pay attention to that when doing research. I was only looking at levels and amount of Pokemon... and their types. I just forgot that one of the gyms was Ice type. A little more grinding for levels on Slapkins, Cass, and Finger to help them do the earlier stuff and I can probably get this.
